General Statement of Duties

Lead Elementary Behavior Intervention Teacher - To collaboratively work with faculty and staff in an elementary program designed to meet academic and behavioral performance standards in a nontraditional setting through planning, implementing, and evaluating specific goals and objectives established for participating students. Demonstrates knowledge and support of the mission and goals of Henrico County Public Schools.

Essential Duties

  • Lead Elementary Behavior Intervention Teacher
  • Required to work in multiple elementary locations with New Bridge Learning Center serving as the home school
  • Conducts initial observations and conveys finding to program personnel
  • Demonstrates extensive knowledge in classroom management and discipline methodology
  • Maintains a learning environment and atmosphere conducive to safe, orderly, and effective instruction using the Student Code of Conduct as the basis of judgment in disciplinary issues
  • Communicates effectively with students, parents, community, school personnel, and central administration
  • Monitors and promotes student achievement
  • Supervises student records
  • Maintains daily instructional plans
  • Promotes positive community relations
  • Maintains an organized and stimulating learning environment
  • Advises and counsels students
  • Observes classroom teachers and assists in implementing classroom management techniques
  • Assists with parent workshops
  • Assists with Character Education in all classrooms
  • Assists with student transitions
  • Attends work daily and is engaged and on task
  • Monitors behavior support records and student portfolios and maintains data on students served
  • Ability to work in multiple locations
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

Virginia Department of Education teacher license, in elementary education, is required.

Bachelor's degree in psychology, sociology, human services, education, or behavioral sciences; Master's degree preferred.

Behavioral intervention and counseling skills are essential.

A minimum of three years behavior intervention experience, preferably in a school setting, is preferred.

Additional Information

Minimum annual starting salary: $63,921 (Bachelor's) , $66,989 (Master's), $ 70,205 (Doctoral).
