Description Position Title: Supervisor of Professional Development
Location: Administration

Reports to: Assistant Superintendent
Purpose of Position
The Supervisor of Professional Development focuses on the development, implementation, and effectiveness of professional learning based on needs assessments with school and district leaders. This position is responsible for coordinating appropriate and timely professional development opportunities for faculty and staff including the design, planning, and implementing various programs to address district, school, departmental, and personal training needs. The purpose of this position is to increase student achievement through professional learning of certified and classified personnel, and close achievement and opportunity gaps through providing effective professional learning based on needs assessments. This position also coordinates with the supervisor overseeing instructional coaches to effectively deploy supports to schools.
Essential Functions
  • Using the district’s planning software, develop the Professional Development Plan; establish goals and objectives to align with the district’s mission and strategic initiatives; prepare status reports as required; design and develop programs throughout the year to meet the objectives set forth in the districts comprehensive plan.
  • Work cooperatively with leaders in coordinating and integrating a unified professional learning plan for the district. Assumes a leadership role in the development, implementation, and monitoring of professional learning across the district. Create and maintain effective systems to determine professional learning needs based on student achievement.
  • Collaborate with the administrators, educators, staff, and the Office of Academics in the coordination of academic professional development efforts across the district.
  • Coordinate embedded, ongoing professional learning that provides instructional approaches, resources, and tools to support teachers in the design and implementation of instruction.
  • In collaboration with an induction educator committee, design, coordinate, and deliver educator induction plans as guided by the Pennsylvania Department of Education. Recruit, liaise with and coach teacher mentors.
  • Maintains and monitors a digital system that houses various aspects of professional learning including, requests, feedback Analyzes district performance data and makes recommendations for professional learning changes.
  • Establish measurement mechanisms to evaluate the effectiveness of all professional development efforts.
  • Contribute to written reports, proposals, and internal and external communications.

  • Performs in accordance with school policy, administrative regulations, state and federal laws.
Minimum Training and Experience Required to Perform Essential Job Functions
  • Valid Administrative Certification; Masters degree preferred
  • 3-5 years of supervisory experience including designing and facilitating and measuring workshops and groups that respond to evolving staff needs
  • 3-5 years experience leading trainings with capacity building outcomes and program impact. Experience coaching staff through career transitions and meeting goals
Salary/Benefits - In accordance with the Act 93 Contract Agreement - Salary based upon relevant experience and education starting at $99,015/yr
