Growing Child Pediatrics at Zebulon - 116 East Horton St - Zebulon, NC; Growing Child Pediatrics at Knightdale - 1005 Big Oak Ct - Knightdale, NC

We are seeking a Nurse Practitioner for the Growing Child Pediatrics at Zebulon community-based practice located in Zebulon, NC as well as Growing Child Pediatrics at Knightdale located in Knightdale, NC. We are seeking an individual with general pediatric experience and excellent communication and clinical skills who can work as an integral member of a multidisciplinary team.

The Duke Growing Child Pediatrics Nurse Practitioner provides direct patient care services to patients from birth to 21 years of age under the supervision of the Duke Growing Child Pediatrics physicians. The Nurse Practitioner performs physical exams, conducts diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, orders and schedules laboratory studies, professional consultations, collects and documents data, and prescribes appropriate interventions and medications in order to coordinate patient care. Explains the necessity, nature, preparation and anticipated effects of scheduled diagnostic and therapeutic services to the patient and/or family.

Primary commitment will be for eight direct patient care sessions per week. Two sessions per week are administrative non-patient care activities. Weekend Urgent Care sessions at the Growing Child Pediatrics at Knightdale location responsibility consists of a minimum of six weekends per year dependent on business need. Session includes evaluating and treating newborn, well, sick and urgent care patients on Saturdays from 8:30 AM - 12:30 PM.

Prefer 1+ years of experience as a NP and/or RN in a primary pediatrics clinical setting.

JOb RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide primary care for a panel of patients from birth to 21years of age.
  • Coordinate the activities of the multidisciplinary primary health care team in an outpatient setting to ensure optimal patient care services, including but not limited to management of well patient care and follow-up, sick, urgent and newborn care including weight checks.
  • Supports patient self-management of disease and behavior modification interventions.

COMPREHENSIVE PATIENT CARE

  • Participates in practice-based and division team meetings and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Coordinates continuity of patient care with external healthcare organizations and facilities, including hospital admission and discharge, ER visits and referrals from the primary care provider to a specialty care provider.
  • Conducts comprehensive, preventive patient screenings.

EDUCATION ACTIVITIES

  • Assesses educational needs of patients and/or their families and provides education interventions as indicated and develops appropriate teaching tools as needed.
  • Utilizes appropriate resources within Duke to ensure all patient’s and/or their family’s education materials meet required standards.
  • Assists in teaching trainees rotating through on primary care pediatric rotations.

JOB ELIGIBILITY REQUIRMENTS

Education

  • Nurse Practitioners: Work requires completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program, with a Master's degree in Nursing.

Certification

  • BLS required.

License

  • Nurse Practitioners: Must have current or compact RN licensure in the state of North Carolina. BLS required. National certification as a NP required prior to or within 6 months of employment.

Experience

  • Prefer 1+ years of experience as an APP and/or RN in Pediatrics
