Salary: $15.00 per hour

NATURE OF WORK:
Performs a variety of tasks related to food production and food service in a fast-paced environment under the direction of the food service manager. The work requires a substantial amount of physical dexterity, can be repetitive, and requires prolonged standing. Food Service Workers are provided on-the-job training and are expected to become proficient in accomplishing required duties during a six-month probationary period.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Prepare bulk quantities of food items in accordance with established recipes;
- Clean and sanitize food service equipment and associated spaces;
- Set up serving lines and provide high-quality food service;
- Operate a point-of-sale computer terminal;
- Communicate with students and staff orally; and
- Able to lift heavy items up to 50 lbs.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Set up serving lines and assist in serving food;
- Maintain portion control standards;
- Use proper servicing techniques;
- Carry out cooking assignments and assist in the preparation of main dishes, raw vegetables, simple desserts, beverages, salads, and sandwiches;
- Operate food production equipment;
- Lift heavy items such as stacks of trays, canned goods, potatoes, etc.;
- Assist in washing pots and pans on a rotating basis;
- May operate the point of sale; and
- Performs other necessary duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to understand and follow written and oral directions;
- To use kitchen utensils and appliances;
- To work effectively with others;
- To use cleaning implements; and
- To be physically able to lift food items frequently in excess of 25 pounds.
TERM OF EMPLOYMENT:
Temporary/hourly position.
SALARY GRADE RANGE: $15.00/hour
BARGAINING UNIT: Not eligible.
