Position Summary:
Acton-Boxborough Regional High School is seeking a skilled and experienced special education teacher to run the Occupational Development Program on a long-term substitute basis between February and June 2024, with the potential opportunity for extension into a permanent position.
The teacher will provide students who present with primary disabilities in the areas of intellectual impairment and/or Autism with instruction in academics, pre-employment skills, and activities of daily living. Students are included in a variety of general education classrooms as appropriate.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Plan effective specialized instruction and intervention for students on IEPs within the program;
Seek out inclusionary opportunities within the high school and community at large;
Administer formal diagnostic assessments and tests for students referred for three-year reevaluations of caseload students;
Administer ongoing progress monitoring, strategic monitoring and benchmark systems;
Schedule, prepare for, and chair Team meetings for caseload students;
Facilitate and teach academic courses based on student need
Write comprehensive progress reports and IEPs
Collaborate with general education and related service staff with respect to appropriate services, accommodations and modifications;
Provide ongoing positive communication with parents;
Collect and analyze student data against IEP goals;
Supervise and plan for educational assistants to support students throughout the day;
Assess for and facilitate transition planning
Develop MCAS-Alt portfolios
Qualifications:
Master’s degree preferred;
Must have a Massachusetts licensure in Moderate or Intensive/Severe Special Needs 5-12 through the Department of Elementary & Secondary Education;
Must have demonstrated success with and be knowledgeable about current research-based interventions for students with disabilities;
Must possess demonstrated ability to develop positive behavior intervention plans;
Training, knowledge and expertise in transition assessment, pre-vocational and vocational skill development
Excellent writing and communication skills required
