This position will be in within the National Crime Victims Research and Treatment Center (NCVRTC) Division. The faculty member will be engaged in research, education, and clinical activities related to eating disorders specialty work within the NCVRTC and the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences.

Job Description

Research: Considerable professional effort will be devoted to research. This involves:

  • 1)  Managing her own research portfolio including an existing SCORE grant.
  • 2) Developing research collaborations with other NCVRTC faculty members including Drs. Hahn, Rheingold, Uhde (and others).
  • 3)  Serving as evaluator on a Duke Endowment funded Thriving Workforce: Reimaging the Healthcare Workforce Experience, the goals of which are to develop and evaluate wellbeing strategies that address the Stanford’s model of professional fulfillment including culture of wellness, efficiency of practice, and personal resilience piloting testing in 7 hospital units. The evaluator will oversee both qualitative data collection (e.g., annual focus groups, individual interviews, satisfaction surveys) and qualitative data assessments.
  • 4) Working closely with Dr. Dan Smith on updates, dissemination, and evaluation of several web-based training courses.
  • 5) Serving as an assessor for Dr. Christine Hahn’s K23 grant as part of a randomized controlled trial for sexual assault survivors experiencing co-occurring PTSD and alcohol misuse.
  • 6) Submit grant applications for extramural funding including for K awards. Note: as is the case with all faculty members, this faculty member would not be expected to cover 100% of their compensation via their own grants. Most faculty members collaborate with other faculty members on a variety of projects, and this faculty’s skills and talents would make them a valued collaborator on many types of grants.

Clinical Service: The person occupying this position will provide outpatient mental health services to individuals with co-occurring trauma and eating disorders difficulties and provide clinical supervision to psychology interns and post-doctoral fellows. This will require licensure in South Carolina. Opportunities to supplement salary in the cash-based faculty practice clinic within the Department of Psychiatry (Comprehensive Psychiatric Care Specialists) are available. 

Education: This faculty member will be expected to participate in the educational activities of the NCVRTC, including its seminar series for interns and post-docs, and to serve as a research preceptor for interns and post-docs, as appropriate.

Minimum Requirements: Must hold a terminal degree such PhD or similar in Psychology or similar.
