Job Summary/Purpose: The Control Systems Technician will monitor, maintain adjust, and repair building automation control systems owned or leased by the Medical University Hospital Authority in order to ensure safety, environmental control and economy of mechanical, electrical, systems. These control systems include, but are not limited to, HVAC equipment, Medical Gas, Fire and Smoke Control and Electrical Distribution systems. The incumbent will, on a rotating basis, work at a control work station to monitor systems and work in the field repairing, adjusting and testing control systems as they interface with various equipment. Incumbent is Considered Essential Personnel in a disaster.

Minimum Training and Education: High school diploma or equivalent and two (2) years experience with electronics and/or HVAC including monitoring, calibration, and testing. Technical or Trade School in HVAC, electrical, electronics related to industrial maintenance, HVAC or other related field preferred. Must have working knowledge of computers and software. Experience with building automation software preferred. Healthcare experience a plus.

(Frequent) Ability to maintain 20/40 vision, corrected, in one eye or with both eyes. (Continuous) Ability to hear and understand whispered conversations at a distance of 3 feet. (Continuous) Ability to perceive colors accurately. (Continuous) Ability to maintain hearing acuity, with correction. (Continuous) Ability to operate winches, come-alongs, jacks, etc. (Continuous) Ability to maintain dexterity in order to use hand tools, both manual and powered. (Continuous) Ability to push or pull equipment carts. (Frequent) Ability to work in a latex safe environment. (Continuous) Ability to be qualified physically for respirator use as required. (Continuous) Necessary Special Requirements Some positions require a commercial driver’s license. (Requirements for a commercial license are contained within separate description(s)).
