JOB DESCRIPTION

POSITION: Student Connections Coach (School-based)

Clements Middle School (Full-time)

REPORTS TO: School Principal (Primary)

JOB GOAL: The primary function of the school-based Student Connections Coach is to work with individual and groups of students to help them accomplish their academic goals.

This is a grant-funded position from the Title I, School Improvement grant, which is dependent on availability of funds.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Has a Bachelor’s degree or higher
2. Holds a valid Georgia certification at level four or higher, preferably in education, social work, counseling, or a related field
3. Has at least three years of experience in education or a related field

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

1. Demonstrates excellent oral and written communication skills
2. Demonstrates ability to attend to details and to efficiently multi-task
3. Demonstrates proficiency in Microsoft Office Programs
4. Demonstrates knowledge of Georgia Standards of Excellence
5. Demonstrates knowledge of research-based instructional strategies
6. Demonstrates ability to model and assist students in setting and meeting their academic goals
7. Demonstrates knowledge of available instructional interventions and the ability to supervise and evaluate their effective implementation
8. Demonstrates professional interpersonal skills with school staff, central office staff, parents/guardians, students, and community
9. Demonstrates ability to work with limited supervision
10. Demonstrates an excellent attendance record

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

1. Provides mentoring and coaching for students in an effort to help them develop and accomplish their academic goals
2. Meets with individual students and small groups of students to establish rapport and provide academic and behavioral support
3. Refers students to appropriate internal and community-based academic programs and support services
4. Collaborates with district and school departments to determine appropriate interventions and support for students
5. Attends meetings and trainings to remain current in program offerings and educational trends and shares information with students
6. Assists students with the development of success, retention, and completion resources and does presentations to support individual and groups of students
7. Trains and coaches students regarding time management and goal setting
8. Attends school activities and events to interact with students and families
9. Maintains accurate and up-to-date records of students who are served
10. Performs other grant-allowable duties as assigned by administrators
