Alliance High School is actively recruiting candidates for a parent coordinator - paraprofessional position. The selected candiate will work diligently to build strong parent connections and increase parental involvement in the building.

This is a 40 hour per week, benefit eligible position requiring eligible applicants to hold 48 college credits or to have successfully completed one of the following Paraprofessional Assessments: WorkKeys ACT, ParaPro Assessment ETS, Paraeducator Master Teacher.

At the time of hire, the selected candidate will need to submit three (3) letters of recommendation dated within the last year and signed by the author and a copy of official transcripts verifying the required 48 credits or passing scores on one of the three assessments.

Qualifications

As of November 1, 2021, all MPS employees are required to be fully vaccinated. The health and safety of our staff and students is our number one priority.

All offers of employment are contingent on the candidate showing proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (currently one dose of the Johnson and Johnson vaccine or two doses of the Pfizer or or Moderna vaccine) to pass the pre-employment requirements. Eligible applicants to hold 48 college credits or to have successfully completed one of the following Paraprofessional Assessments: WorkKeys ACT, ParaPro Assessment ETS, Paraeducator Master Teacher.

Responsibilities

  • Meets with principals, teachers and other school personnel to discuss strategies for improving parental engagement and school-family partnerships.
  • Greets parents and community members who enter the building and assists them in reaching their destination.
  • Works closely with other members of the parent component in carrying out the development, implementation and assessment of the Title I Educational Plan.
  • Engages in activities which promote communication and understanding between the parent, school and the community.
  • At the request of the principal or the designees, plans and holds ongoing activities that attract and retain parents-families to the school.
  • Develops and conducts training for parents/families and volunteers that will enable them to work more effectively with their children in order to raise achievement and close the achievement gap.
  • Assists in developing and maintaining parent centers at the school for the dissemination of information, resources and training.
  • Engages in activities designed to broaden self-awareness of effective strategies for working with parents such as reading literature, attending in-services and/or classes/seminars. Uses strategies in training and dissemination of information to parents/families
  • Support schools in carrying out parental activities. Attends and participates in School Governance Council meetings.
  • Works closely with universities, churches and community agencies to provide support to parents.
  • Attends meetings as requested.
  • Actively supports the MPS Strategic Plan.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
