We are seeking Full-time, part-time and per diem Nurses responsible for triage and treatment of students according to written protocols and in collaboration with the Medical Director, Director of Nursing, athletic trainers, counselors, and Berkshire School staff. Job Functions/Major Responsibilities:

Essential Responsibilities:

Clinical Care and Triage
• Provide nursing level care for student illness or injury.
• Determine nursing diagnosis and develop a plan of care using established protocols.
• Perform laboratory tests as needed.
• Handle medical emergencies campus-wide.

Medication Administration and Documentation
• Administer prescription medications or vaccinations per physician order.
• Administer over-the-counter medications with parent/guardian permission per SHS protocol.
• Keep accurate records; document and maintain electronic health records neatly and legibly.

Student Support and Education
• Provide health education and information as needed.
• Refer students to the Medical Director or school counselor as appropriate.

Infirmary and Program Support
• Monitor inpatients closely.
• Make up inpatient beds.
• Provide meals.
• Perform other necessary tasks in Student Health Services, including inventory and ordering supplies.
• Participate in SHS office meetings.
• Engage in continuous professional development.

Communication and Coordination
• Communicate with medical and non-medical personnel at school and with student families regarding a student’s condition, as appropriate.
• Communicate student absences and appointments to the Administrative Assistant and enter excused absences in the computer system.

Qualifications
• Minimum 1 year experience in a school or hospital or the equivalent.
• Graduation from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing school.
• Ability to provide physical examination, nursing diagnosis and treatment for students.
• Ability to administer immunizations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Pass a background check.
• Possess a valid and safe driver’s license.

Physical Requirements
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Ability to sit, stand, and move throughout the workday.
• Ability to use a computer and other equipment for documentation and recordkeeping.
• Ability to communicate effectively and respond promptly to student health needs, including emergencies.

This position pays a range of $35.00 to $50.00/hour depending on qualifications
