Job Summary: The Data Coordination Unit in the Department of Public Health Sciences is looking for an IT specialist who will work with the Unit’s Information Systems team to support the technical needs of the Unit. The ideal candidate would have knowledge of servers and workstations, as well as software packages. Experience in programming and database development are desired but not required.

Payscale Salary Range: UNIV-Band 6: $41,778.00 - $59,538.50 - $77,299.00 (min - mid - max)

Job Duties:

  • 35% - Installs, configures, troubleshoots, and maintains DCU’s designated web servers, database servers, file servers, and DCU employee workstations within the university’s IT infrastructure - (Essential)
  • 30% - Provides software system supports for DCU statisticians, website developers, database programmers, and project data managers, including software installation, configuration, and upgrading. - (Essential)
  • 20% - Provides local and remote technical support for internal and external users pertaining to information technology related issues. - (Essential)
  • 15% - May be involved in application design, development, and maintenance of safe and secure file transfer from or to external computer servers at collaborating institutions. - (Essential)

Preferred Experience & Additional Skills: Knowledge of computer servers, networking, database systems (preferably MS SQL Server), operating systems (preferably Windows 10 and Windows Server 2008-2019), and server equipment. Skills in IT related problem solving. Capacity to provide effective advice and assistance to individual customers. Able to communicate effectively, both written and verbally, with customers, peers, and management, and document working procedures, solutions and findings

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: A high school diploma and four years experience in office automation systems, data communications systems design, installation, operation, repair, sales or marketing or processing of information in a data processing environment or related systems. A degree in a related field may be substituted for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
