General Statement of Duties
Closing Date: This position closes on Monday, October 14, 2024.
Provides psychiatry services and treatments of patients for the Department of Mental Health and Developmental Services; does related work as required.
Essential Duties
Provide psychiatric services including assessment, diagnosis and medication management to adults in a community based mental health setting. Coordinate services with on-site treatment teams including nursing staff and mental health treatment staff. Provide documentation of services and e-prescribing through electronic health record. Provide consultation and occasional day time coverage for other prescribers (Psychiatrist and Nurse Practitioners) in the agency.
Extensive knowledge of medicine, may require knowledge and training in a medical specialty, such as psychiatry; thorough knowledge of applicable and accepted medical procedures and practices; skill in the use of medical instruments, equipment, and procedures; ability to accurately examine, diagnose, counsel, and treat a variety of patients; able to independently resolve complex medical issues; considerable hospital and administrative management experience; and the ability to communicate well orally and in writing.
Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited medical school or university; OR any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Additional Information
Permanent position (40 hours/week) available during business hours of 8:30 am to 5:00 pm Monday - Friday.
Possession of a license to practice medicine by the Commonwealth of Virginia. Must be Board Certified in Psychiatry.
