Job Summary:

Medical assistant Technician II will perform effective and efficient customer service by maintaining quality and aseptic control procedures including decontamination, processing, inspection, assembly, packaging, sterilization, storage, and distribution of sterile instruments, equipment and supplies.

Payscale Salary Range: UNIV-Band 3: $23,191.00 - $33,052.00 - $42,913.00 (min - mid - max)

Job Duties:

  • 35% - Inspection, assembly, packaging and labeling of instruments and equipment. Distribution of dental instruments, equipment, and supplies - (Essential)
  • 25% - Sterilization and decontamination of dental instruments and equipment, instruments, and material supplies. Testing and record keeping in compliance with AAMI, OSHA, FDA, and CDC guidelines - (Essential)
  • 20% - Provide competent and efficient dental assistant support duties as approved by the SC State Board of Dentistry. Must have knowledge of all dental equipment, instruments and procedures. Expose digital bitewing, panoramic, and periapical radiographs using sensors and phosphor plates. Mount digital bitewing, periapical and panoramic radiographs in their appropriate position within the Emago software. - (Essential)
  • 10% - Temporarily work in various clinical areas – including areas outside of the Sterilization Center – as requested by supervisors (e.g.: when residents are out of the clinic or temporary staff shortages occur). - (Essential)
  • 10% - Collect used lab coats, gowns, towels and blankets from CSR and Departments to return to linen room. Sort unusable gowns and towels for replacement, and ensure linen room is in order and ready for distribution. - (Essential)

Preferred Experience & Additional Skills: Knowledge of dental instruments, equipment, and supplies. Working knowledge of sterilization procedures and infectious waste disposal procedures. Knowledge of inventory control. Working knowledge of maintenance of sterilizers and autoclaves.

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: A high school diploma and one year of training or experience within specific work area. Certification in Radiation Safety required for positions responsible for dental x-rays.
