General Statement of Duties
The selected candidate will support the needs of stakeholders and HCPS students by preparing students for a career in the nursing field. This program develops and implements an engaging and informative nursing curriculum. The selected candidate will use various teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles and will provide clinical experience and supervision to assess students during clinical practice, ensuring they apply theoretical knowledge in real-world settings.
This is a 12 month or 260 day assignment.
Essential Duties
The physical demands of this assignment include the ability to sit and stand for extended periods and the ability to lift and move items weighing up to 25 pounds.
Daily Professional Duties
- Plans, delivers, and assesses nursing curriculum for high school students that is both engaging and informative.
- Continuously updates a variety of teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles, including lectures, hands-on activities, simulations, and group discussions.
- Uses curriculum to reflect current best practices and advancements in the nursing field.
- Provides students with opportunities for clinical practice in real-world healthcare settings.
- Supervises and evaluates students during their clinical rotations, ensuring they apply theoretical knowledge effectively.
- Uses diverse evaluation methods to assess student progress, including exams, practical assessments, and peer reviews.
- Provides individualized academic support and guidance to help students succeed.
- Maintains accurate records of student performance and progress.
- Stays informed about the latest developments in nursing education and practice.
- Participates in professional development activities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge.
- Reports to work on time in adherence with the designated employee contract calendar.
- Performs duties in accordance with the growth measures and metrics outlined in the Teacher Performance Standards.
- Performs duties in strict compliance with the employee conduct policy detailed in Chapter Four of the HCPS policy manual.
- Establishes appropriate boundaries with students and consistently endeavors to serve as a role model.
- Responsive to supervision and direction.

Lead Teacher Duties
- Complete Board of Nursing program reports and update program achievement data.
- Manages adult admissions to Practical Nursing with Admissions Committee input.
- Assist the clinical scheduler with staff and student clinical assignments.
- Assign Practical Nursing teaching assignments.
- Assist Health and Medical Specialist with ACEN Accreditation, SCHEV, and BON for program compliance
- needs.
Minimum Qualifications
Valid state teaching license with an endorsement in Practical Nursing (PN).
A master’s degree in nursing from an approved college or university is preferred.
Interested candidates without a teaching license but with the following qualifications are encouraged to apply:
- Graduation from an approved nursing program
- Proof of an RN license
- Evidence of at least two years of full-time nursing experience within the last five years
Additional Information
This posting is for the 2025-26 school year with a July 1, 2025, contractual start date.
Minimum annual starting salary:
- $ 72,060.37 (Bachelors)
- $ 75,519.45. (Masters)
