Rome City Schools is seeking a Speech Language Pathologist for the upcoming 2025-2026 school year!

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION
Valid Georgia Teaching/Service Certificate or George State License in Speech-Language Pathology Required. Certification through the American Speech Language Hearing Association (ASHA) preferred.
Goal:
The Speech-Language Pathologist provides services for all students with disabilities. He/she assumes district-level shared responsibility for the knowledge and application of the speech language pathology for students with disabilities. The SLP follows all federal, state, and district due process policies and procedures while supporting school administrators and special educators in compliant practices.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance.
- Maintains a procedure for requisitioning, ordering, and paying for materials and equipment
- Maintains an inventory of all materials and equipment.
- Assumes responsibility for own professional growth and development, for keeping current with the literature, new research findings, and improved techniques, and for attending appropriate professional meetings and conventions regarding special education.
- Contribute to the development of the IEP, such as goals, modifications, and learning styles.
- Consult with diagnosticians, classroom teachers, related service therapists, students, and parents concerning appropriate evaluations, modifications, and test administration.
- Obtain modified standardized testing materials and assist in the administration or administer the test as needed.
- Work as liaison with other agencies in vocational assessment process.
- Administer various other tests as appropriate and as required by Rome City Schools.
- Schedule time efficiently for assessment, instruction, planning, preparation of materials, travel, and conferences with relevant school and other key individuals.
- Maintains ongoing contact with parents to assist them in the development of a realistic understanding of their child’s abilities, progress, and future goals.
- Provides in-service training programs for school personnel and students and education for parents regarding the needs of the speech impaired students and adaptations, programs, and services for these students.
- Maintain awareness of and compliance with federal and state regulations regarding Special Education.
- Follows all district, state and federal policies and procedures.
- Maintains prompt and professional communication with all stakeholders.
- Performs other duties as assigned by appropriate administrator.
