General Statement of Duties
Closing Date: This position closes on Monday, May 12, 2025.
Provides a variety of prevention support services to Mental Health and Developmental Services in an hourly capacity for the Connect Program; does related work as required.
Essential Duties
In an hourly capacity, provide tutorial, educational, and recreational support during program hours (2 - 6 pm); primarily for elementary and middle school youth in a community-based program during the school year and half-day during the summer program. Facilitate small group activities and assist with field trips. Provide transportation related to program activities.
Some knowledge of services in the area of mental health and developmental disabilities; some knowledge of resources available to youth and families; some knowledge of everyday needs and problems of different client groups; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with children and adults, co-workers, and the public; ability to carry out tasks according to plans; ability to perform routine office duties such as filing, answering the phone, and completing forms.
Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from high school and one (1) year of public contact or human services (Youth) work experience; OR, any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to work with at-risk youth and families.
Additional Information
Possession of valid Virginia driver's license with no more than -2 points. A DMV record check will be completed.
TB Screening and Child Protective Services Registry Check required, if offered employment.
This is an hourly position with the County and will not exceed 29 hours per week. Connect hours of operation are 2:00 - 6:00 p.m.
