Description Summer HVAC Tech Assistant Location: Facilities
Position: Summer (temporary) 2025 Status: Non-Exempt
Hours: 7:00 am – 3:30 pm Pay Rate: $16.50 hour
Open Date: 5/30/2025 Closing Date: 6/22/2025

Essential Job Functions:
Assist in providing preventative maintenance, cleaning coils, as well as repairs and installation for heating, cooling, and ventilation equipment throughout the District. Assist with repairs and/or installs of other related equipment such as heat pumps, unit ventilators, control systems, valves, contacts, tubing, wiring, controls, humidifiers, cooling towers, boilers, VAV boxes, exhaust fans, air compressors, and other related HVAC equipment. Make repairs to gas and electric boilers, including pool-heating systems. Repair systems, pressure control systems, burner repairs/replacement, heat exchangers, gas valves, pumps and gauges.
Qualifications:
  • Must maintain punctuality and a good attendance record.
  • Proficient in use of mechanical and hand tools and HVAC equipment helpful
  • Able to work at heights greater than 20 feet and on rooftops; able to safely and repeatedly lift 70 pounds on a routine basis
  • Must be able to perform physical labor indoors, outdoors and in varying weather conditions
  • Computer literate
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to relate to a diverse workforce
  • Mobility to physically move safely and effectively in and around buildings and campus locations and crawl under and/or inside HVAC units
  • Must be able to understand and communicate in English, both verbally and in writing, for all job related duties and response to safety emergencies
  • Must be able to pass thorough background investigation, physical and drug test
