Job Description
SUMMARY
Under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist, the Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant provides occupational therapy services including treatment, implementation, standardized assessment data, and documentation to students in the school setting. Reviews and consults with an Occupational Therapists on an Individualized Educational Plan (IEP) to provide services for a student who qualifies for occupational therapy services.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Associates or bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
Successful completion of the NBCOT exam and current COTA certification. Certification must be maintained current during course of employment.
Arizona IVP fingerprint clearance card
Verbal & Written communication skills in English and a demonstrated ability to read and comprehend written/graphic and oral instruction
At least 2 years of experience working with youth ages 3-18
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS AFTER HIRE
Proof of immunity to rubeola (measles) and rubella (German measles), or proof of MMR immunization.
Valid Driver's license (Arizona Driver’s License required within 30 days of hire)
MVReport – showing no more than the allowable points against Driver’s License as described under Governing Board Policy: EEB-R-1 Business and Personnel Transportation Services - Transportation by Employees.
Reliable mode of personal transportation with evidence of insurance compliance greater than or equal to the state required minimum for car insurance as described under Governing Board Policy: EEB-R-1 Business and Personnel Transportation Services - Transportation by Employees
Bloodborne Pathogen training offered by TUSD Risk Management Department.
COMMENTS
Effective: 2026-2027 SCHOOL YEAR
LOCATION: Exceptional Education Department - District Wide - Sites May Vary
FTE : 1.0 - 8 hours per day
Work Calendar: 9.5 month
Positions less than 30 hours per week are not eligible for district benefits.
Salary will be prorated if the start date is after the first day of the work calendar for the position.

New Teachers to the District may be eligible for a one-time recruitment stipend (up to $5,000) if hired into one of the following positions: Ex Ed, Math, Science.
Probationary Contracts will be issued for any contingent Certifications, Positions that are 0.6 FTE or less, and certified employees within their first three years with the District.
