The Payroll Accountant Manager plays a significant role in ensuring as the costing configuration expert who has responsibility for addressing day to day activities regarding the payroll accounting team. Specifically, the primary objective for this role is to utilize expert knowledge and best practices to deliver solutions aligned with MUSC mission, core values and culture.  

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Finance Director, the Payroll Accountant Manager is responsible for, but not limited to the following:

  • Liaise with senior leadership to provide strategic input and recommendations for growth, innovation, and overall improvement for Payroll Accounting
  • Recommend best practices and provide sound solutions to support Payroll Accounting related items in Workday
  • Responsible for the on-going analysis, design, and set-up of Workday costing configuration
  • Lead and oversee testing and quality assurance for the overall costing configuration
  • Research and resolve system problems, unexpected results or process flaws and recommend solutions or alternate methods to meet requirements
  • Create payroll accounting adjustments
  • Act as the CCM (Cost Center Manger) to review and approve various business processes
  • Utilize costing best practices to help facilitate optimal solutions
  • Analyze data or facts and summarize and present findings in a compelling way
  • Support Finance team for payroll accounting and GL reconciliations
  • Effectively instill trust and build consensus around business processes and design
  • Document changes and updates within Workday for effective change management and training needs
  • Create detailed functional and technical design documents including test plans, cases, and user training documents
  • Provide thought leadership on potential enhancements, methodologies to improve overall experience
  • Partner with FIN, HR and TECH to ensure all work streams are cohesive and cross functional impacts are considered and mitigated

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, finance, or another business-related field
  • Understanding Payroll Accounting
  • Possess strong willingness to learn and ability to jump in feet first
  • Microsoft Office proficient
