Job Description

Occupational Summary

Plan, develop and coordinate the preparation of financial analyses and reports including, but not limited to, operational and capital budgets, financial statements, statistical reports, cost analyses and other financial information; perform complex and specialized assignments in assigned area of expertise; perform lead role in coordinating complex projects.

Work Performed

•Plan, develop and coordinate the preparation of financial analyses and reports including, but not limited to, operational and capital budgets, financial statements, statistical reports, cost analyses and other financial information.

•Organize and prepare reporting inclusive of the heart services programs across the Duke University Health System. Required to develop and maintain lines of communications with other hospitals and programs within the health system.

•Coordinate the annual preparation of the Heart Service Line operating budget. Inclusive of direct communication and planning with heart operations leadership, ensuring accurate and timely reporting of strategic volume budgeting, expense planning, staffing issues, recruitment plans and other material issues that may impact the operating results to the planned budget.

•Coordinate the annual preparation of multiple hospital surveys including the research, documentation and follow-up.

•Assist in the annual cycle counts of perpetual inventories

•Maintain liaison with business unit financial managers to advise units regarding financial position, cash flows, accounts, budgets, budget requests and related financial matters.

•Supervise, coordinate and participate in the preparation of various financial reports and analyses for senior leadership and external agencies.

•Assist in the development, implementation and management of financial systems, cost accounting systems and/or financial policies and procedures as appropriate.

•Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Required Minimum Qualifications

Education

Work requires a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration or a related field. CPA is desirable.

Experience

Work requires a minimum of six years’ experience in financial management, cost accounting or a field directly related to specialized area of assignment.
