Job Title: Refugee School Impact Grant - Teacher - Summer Camp (Part Time)
Reports to: Director of English Language Development
SUMMARY:
The Harrisburg City School District is expanding on the opportunities to provide after school programs to Refugee families. Refugee School Impact Grant (RSIG) project is an innovative program of learning opportunities. The purpose of the program is to provide afterschool Wednesdays for Refugee children and families to experience and participate in STEAM and Mindfulness activities to close’ academic and emotional gap caused by breaks in educational services and family stability. In addition to, 6 week summer camps Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday focused on STEAM and Mindfulness. Explicitly teach coping skills to manage the impact and effects of traumatic events.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITES:
The Teacher delivers instruction and conducts activities with students and parents using the STEAM and Mindfulness curriculum resources. Responsible for teaching and learning of students in the program.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Bachelor or Master’s level in relevant Social Work or Educational degree, or equivalent experience in refugee client services and/or case management.
  2. ESL K-12 Program Specialist certification preferred.
  3. An interest in social justice and humanitarian issues.
  4. Excellent reasoning ability and good judgment while representing the program.
  5. High professional and ethical standards
  6. Driver's license in good standing and personal vehicle in safe working order to travel within the district.
  7. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including spelling and grammar. Proficiency in another language is a plus.
  8. Basic mathematic computation skills are a must.
  9. The manual dexterity necessary to operate a computer and the following computer skills are expected:
  • Fluency in using Microsoft Excel, Word and Publisher.
  • Proficiency in use of email, including address groups, forwarding, file attachment, organizing computer files etc.
  • Experience with data entry, speed and accuracy in service data entry
  • Experience in any other computer application programs a plus.


WORK ENVIRONMENT: Ability to work effectively in a team environment. This position will be based out of the Harrisburg School District Office but travel to local partners and satellite sites is expected.
SALARY: Established hourly rate for extra compensation as outlined in the HEA Agreement. Not to exceed 125 hours in the grant year.
