CHOICE AND ENROLLMENT

Hourly, not benefits eligible

FTE: 0.50

Salary Range: $17.00/hour

 

Essential Functions and Objectives:

 

Liaisons encourage family engagement in the research and selection of schools for transitioning students. Through outreach to students/families, in the form of telephone calls, visits to schools, and in-office visits, liaisons communicate school options, priorities based upon residence and transportation. This position will require flexibility with work hours in order to accommodate school and family availability, and will include some evenings and weekends. There are multiple locations for this position and will require significant travel to Denver Public Schools and other sites throughout Denver county. This is a temporary position, 40 hours a week to support the SchoolChoice Round 1 process (January-February).

 

Answer Choice Hotline parent questions about enrollment in DPS and the SchoolChoice process. Provide tools to help families with research of schools such as district and school expos, SchoolFinder, and enrollment guides. Navigate families through the online SchoolChoice application, provide information on deadlines, school options, priorities-based on residence and transportation options.

- Facilitate outreach efforts to transitioning students/families, to provide information of the SchoolChoice process.  Communication will be in the form of telephone calls, school and in-office visits.

- Consult and coordinate with district departments and personnel in order to refer students and their parents to programs and special services when appropriate.

- Track progress and results of outreach efforts (i.e. number of calls made, number of meetings held, etc.).

- Data entry into Infinite Campus and SchoolChoice system.

- Contact families/schools to request missing information and documents.

- Collaborate with staff members at schools to maximize participation of transitioning students.

- Performs other duties as assigned, including special projects.

 

Knowledge, Experience & Other Qualifications:

 

- Experience working with families and children or customer service.

- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

- Customer focus and adaptability to different personality types.

- Demonstrate high degree of integrity in handling confidential information.

- Familiarity with Denver Public Schools preferred.

- Experience working in a high-volume, fast-paced processing environment.

- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.

- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is highly desirable.

- Current and valid Colorado driver’s license, Reliable transportation is required.

 

Education Requirements:

 

High School diploma or equivalent.
