General Statement of Duties

Assumes those duties assigned by the principal to ensure the continued achievement of all students and the smooth operation of the school. Also, assists with planning the school program monitors discipline and administers the disciplinary program as stated in the Henrico Code of Student Conduct.


Essential Duties

The employee shall possess extensive knowledge of curriculum and instruction, theory and practices of discipline, and personnel evaluation theory and practice. Must be able to communicate with diverse groups in both written and oral forms. Evidence of leadership ability or any equivalent combination of experience and training that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

• Observe and evaluate instructional, support, and classified personnel

• Serves as administrative designee in the absence of the principal

• Works collaboratively with the principal and leadership team

• Attends all required meetings, including content planning, department, grade level, and professional learning communities

• Monitors and administers discipline following the Code of Conduct

• Works directly with the entire school community on disciplinary issues

• Works with the principal in the implementation of the curricular and extracurricular programs

• Works with the principal on the development and monitoring of the School Quality Plan and aligns with the division's Strategic Plan

• Plans and conducts professional learning

• Provide staff support by availability to attend county meetings such as staff development, the PTA County Council, and the Lay Advisory Committee as needed.

• Attends work daily and is engaged in job responsibilities

• Secures substitutes

• Assigns duties (i.e., bus, cafeteria, etc.)

• Supervises specific academic programs assigned by the principal in the school

• Supervises athletic events and after-school programs

• Supports and/or leads Summer Academy program (planning, hiring of staff, supervision)

• Works with counselors in the management of student records

• Works with Master Schedule and scheduling classes

• Works with bus schedules

• Oversees report card process

• Ensures the safety and cleanliness of the school building

• Available for programs and duties outside of the regular school day

• Works with total school staff and Central Office staff in implementing the school program

• Works with parents regarding individual students and/or school program

• Abides by the adopted board of education policies and procedures

• Performs other duties as assigned


Minimum Qualifications

• Post Graduate Professional license with administration and supervision endorsement required.

• Master's degree from an accredited institution.

• Leadership qualities and personal characteristics are necessary for working effectively with the community representing the school division.

• A minimum of three years experience as a teacher, administrator, or supervisor at the level to be supervised.

• Demonstrated knowledge of curriculum and instruction, theory and practices of discipline, and personnel evaluation theory and practice.

• Must be able to communicate with diverse groups in both written and oral forms.

Anticipated Start Date – July 1, 2025

*Minimum annualized salary - $92,128.42 (The salary for this position will be prorated based upon the official start date).

*Salary based on the 2024-2025 pay scale, subject to change based on adoption of the 2025-26 pay scale.
