Job details

Exciting Opportunity at MSK: The Romesser Lab is looking for a Postdoctoral Fellow to join our team studying therapy induced senescence and tumor immunology.

Role Overview

Dr. Paul Romesser’s laboratory is recruiting abold and innovativePostdoctoral Fellowtoturn cellular senescence into a weaponized immunologic state against cancer. Rooted in rectal cancer—but engineered to translate across immune-refractory tumors—our program fusesimmunocompetent mouse models, patient-derived organoids, single-cell / spatial multi-omics, and CRISPR-based functional genomics. You willdrive NIH- and foundation-funded projectsthat dissect the senescence–immune interface and fast-track novel combination therapies toward first-in-human trials, all within MSK’s collaborative, technology-rich ecosystem.

Key Requirements:

  • PhD or MD/PhDin Cancer Biology, Immunology, Molecular Biology, or a related discipline
  • Hands on expertise in at least one of the following:
    • Immunocompetent mouse tumor models
    • Patient-derived organoid culture and manipulation
    • Flow cytometry or advanced immune-profiling platforms
    • Single-cell or spatial omics
  • Computational proficiency—familiarity with R/Python for analysis of bulk, single-cell, or spatial-omics data (or a strong willingness to learn).
  • Strong publication recordthat highlights independent thinking and problem-solving.
  • Excellent communication skills(written and oral) and a track record of productive collaboration within interdisciplinary teams.

Core Skills:

  • Experimental Design & Troubleshooting: Ability to conceptualize, execute, and optimize complex in vivo (mouse) and ex vivo (organoid) studies, including CRISPR perturbations and multiplex assays.
  • Single-Cell & Spatial Multi-omics: Competence in generating and/or analyzing scRNA-seq and spatial transcriptomics data; comfortable using pipelines such as Seurat, Scanpy, or equivalent.
  • Data Analysis & Visualization: Fluency in R/Python for statistics, data integration, and production-quality figures that clearly communicate findings to diverse audiences.
  • Immunological Assays: Proficiency with flow cytometry, ELISA/LEGENDplex, functional T-cell or myeloid assays, and lymphoid and myeloid co-culture assays for dissecting tumor–immune interactions.
  • Scientific Communication & Leadership: Strong track record of manuscript preparation, conference presentations, and collaborative project management; ability to mentor junior trainees and foster an inclusive lab culture.
