POSITION: Paraeducator - Instructional ESOL
REPORTS TO: Site Administrator
LOCATION: Spring Ridge Middle School
SALARY: The salary for this position will be based on EASMC-ESP salary schedule for 10-month, 7-hour employees – Range 9 ($27,451 - $41,521).
EFFECTIVE: August 2025

NATURE OF WORK:
The paraeducator will work under the direction of the ESOL teacher(s) to support the academic achievement of multilingual learners. The position is a ten-month position that has the responsibility to provide instructional ESOL support to students and support for teachers. The position will support the ESOL needs of the classroom. The work is performed under the general direction of the ESOL teacher(s) and in collaboration with the school administration. The paraeducator may be assigned by the building principal or the principal’s designee to support any ESOL class and/or student as needed.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Meets regularly with the ESOL teacher(s) for planning and evaluating student's progress
- Assists multilingual students by utilizing ESOL strategies in the basic subject content areas: English Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies
- Prepares materials and scaffolds to reinforce the regular classroom lesson under teacher’s direction
- Translates home/school communication to parents on an as-needed basis
- Takes on the role of translator (oral and written) for parents at open house, orientation, and school meetings
- Assists in reviewing transcripts of newly arrived MLs for purposes of course placement
- Administers WIDA Screener upon registration
- Assists ESOL teacher and Multilingual Family Coordinator with Title III compliance paperwork
- Attends workshops and in-service training sessions
- Performs other related and non-related job duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Forty-eight (48) semester college credits or successful completion Paraprofessional Test (documents must be uploaded to your application)
Preferred
- Related ESOL college courses or training
- Experience working with multilingual children
TERM OF EMPLOYMENT:
Full-time ten-month position.
SALARY GRADE RANGE:
The salary for this position will be based on EASMC-ESP salary schedule for ten-month seven-hour employees – Range 9.
