Job Duties:

20Provide medical assistance support to medical staff by performing medical procedures such as taking vital signs and initial medical histories, drawing blood, removing sutures, changing dressings, administering and reading TB tests, taking electrocardiograms and performing basic laboratory tests. Will assist medical staff during exams. Will provide additional support to medical staff by ensuring that exam rooms are clean and properly stocked. Will clean exam rooms between visits. Will properly dispose of testing materials and ensure that materials are fully stocked and readily available for medical staff.Essential

20Use medical knowledge to review EMR prior to the patient (student) visit. Will ensure completeness of patient record by verifying immunization requirements, insurance status and enrollment status. Will process medical record requests, update patient charts for immunizations, etc., and ensure patient compliance with pre-matriculation requirements. Will scan received medical and immunization records into the EMR. Will verify patient insurance status. Will help students with student health insurance claims problems. Will assist with processing incoming students’ records to ensure compliance with pre-matriculation requirements. Will assist nursing with ensuring and processing ongoing immunization and screening requirements. Assist the RNs with drug screening tests as needed and the college reimbursement process.Essential

25Function as Point and Click (PnC) “Super User. PnC is the electronic medical record system used by Student Health Services. Perform charge entry and ledger billing for SHIP. Verify to make sure all charges were captured and make correction as need. Perform the export and reporting functions for ledger billing. Review of SHIP EOB’s when the payments come in from SHIP to make sure there are no denials. If there are denials then troubleshoot them to get them paid. Make deposits timely. Make sure all credit card receipts are deposited. Maintain and Order Supplies. Input/ pay bills in Marketplace. Review Labcorp invoices and make necessary corrections. Will be responsible for PCard purchases. Utilize Bank of America Works to receipt PCard purchases. Reconcile Bank of America statements for PCard and obtain supervisor signature on monthly statements. Utilize UMS for IIT’s and Journal Entries. Track A/R & A/P through the Financial Reports. Print monthly financial reports. Check other A/R & A/P to be sure receipts and payments are correct. Assist with Facilities/ housekeeping/ lock shop, etc. requests using the university’s “Fix It” application. Maintain and Order Supplies.Essential

25Perform a variety of basic and complex administrative duties for Student Health Services front office, including, but not limited to: Answering phones, check voicemail, scheduling appointments, checking in patients (including reviewing the electronic medical record (EMR) prior to visit for completeness-immunization requirements, insurance verification and enrollment status), printing labels and organizing daily appointment sheets, sending appointment reminders, filling out and filing insurance, taking payments, processing medical record requests (sending and receiving), using computer applications (including EMR), scanning and faxing, and maintaining forms inventory, entering an revising immunization information in patients’ charts. Record retention. Send various communications to new students and current students, and college administrators. Fill out immunization forms for rotations.Essential

Job summary: Student Health Services is hiring a Certified Medical Assistant/Technical Medical Associate to perform a variety of basic and complex administrative duties for front office, including, but not limited to: answering phones, checking voicemail, scheduling appointments, checking in patients (including reviewing EMR prior to visit for completeness-immunization requirements, insurance verification and enrollment status), taking payments, processing medical record requests (sending and receiving), using computer applications (including EMR), entering and revising immunization information in patients’ charts.

Payscale Salary Range: UNIV-Band 4: $27,527.00 - $39,228.00 - $50,930.00 (min - mid - max)

FLSA: Hourly

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: A high school diploma and one year experience or additional training and certification within the specific work area. Some positions require licensure by the South Carolina Board of Dentistry. Some positions require certification in BCLS, ACLS and BTLS.

Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Preferred: Bachelor’s degree and/or Certified Medical Assistant desired. Excellent technical skills required.
