Job Description Summary
"The Medical Tech Lead performs a wide variety of duties in the laboratory. The Med Tech Lead is responsible for the following:
1) Perform Moderate and High Complexity Testing on blood and all types of body fluid specimens.
2) Responsible for oversight of assigned laboratory testing discipline(s).
3) Insure accurate and reliable test results by adhering to instrument maintenance, calibration, quality control procedures and participation in subscribed proficiency testing program.
4) Ability to properly use Laboratory Information System (LIS)
5) Maintains records and statistical data according to regulatory requirements
6) Coordinates with phlebotomy and other hospital staff to ensure proper collection of patient samples
7) Troubleshoot problems with laboratory equipment, test methods, and sample collection
8) Trains new employees and students on laboratory methods, instruments, and policies
9) Ability to communicate patient results and/or problems to Medical or Nursing Staff.
10) Oversees and reviews the work of the general technical staff, as required.

11) Ability to work under pressure of emergency situation
12) Other duties assigned by Supervisor or Laboratory Director

Additional Job Description
Education: Associate's or Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. Degree must be in Medical Laboratory Science or one of the biological or chemical sciences. Laboratory training through an accredited laboratory program preferred.
Experience: Two or more years working in an accredited laboratory preferred
Licenses/Certificates: Certification as a laboratory professional by ASCP, AMT, NCA, or HEW preferred
