Position: Food Service Worker (3 hours/day) -Open Until Filled

(ten-month assignment)

Location: Food and Nutrition Services/Various Sites

Salary: The salary for this position will be based on the EASMC-ESP food service employees' salary schedule for ten-month three-hour employees – Range 1 ($8,132 - $12,297)

Effective: SY 2022-2023

Performs a variety of tasks related to food production and food service in a fast-paced environment under the direction of the food service manager. The work requires a substantial amount of physical dexterity, can be repetitive, and requires prolonged standing. Food Service Workers are provided on-the-job training and are expected to become proficient in accomplishing required duties during a six-month probationary period.


  • Prepare bulk quantities of food items in accordance with established recipes;
  • Clean and sanitize food service equipment and associated spaces;
  • Set up serving lines and provide high-quality food service;
  • Operate a point of sale computer terminal;
  • Communicate with students and staff orally; and
  • Able to lift heavy items up to 50 lbs.


  • Cook - Prepare bulk quantities of food items;
  • Serve on the line - Set up and serve food items;
  • Cashier - Operate a computerized point of sale system;
  • Dishwasher - Operate a dishwasher;
  • Wash pots and pans in a three-compartmented sink;
  • Clean and sanitize food service equipment and associated spaces;
  • Maintain high-quality food preparation and the highest caliber of customer service;
  • Work effectively with others as part of a team;
  • Coordinate with other school staff in support of the recycling program;
  • Participate in promotions of new food items and nutrition education activities;
  • Fill in for the manager – after proficiency is demonstrated; and
  • Performs other duties as required.


  • Experience in a commercial food service environment is desirable but not required;
  • Must be able to understand and follow written and oral directions; and
  • Must be physically able to lift items weighing up to 50 pounds.


Half-time ten-month position.
