Starting Pay: $23.27 (and up, depending on experience)

Essential Job Functions:
The Purchasing & Budget Specialist position within the Purchasing Department has a critical role in ensuring the school district receives goods and services as efficiently and effectively as possible. The position assists in the preparation of requests for bids, BOE recommendations, and facilitates the process of district procurement functions including executing purchase orders. Maintain accurate budget information for the various programs within the department. The position requires a deep knowledge of the district financial software and is integral in training and educating district staff on how to utilize this platform for purchasing functions. This role will also serve to support the functionality of purchasing processes throughout the district. The Purchasing & Budget Specialist is also responsible for generating multiple reports as required, performing office duties involving word processing, database, and spreadsheets under the direction of the Purchasing Manager. This position supports district sustainability functions through internal and external customer service requests, reporting, and ordering. This position supports district safety functions by following guidelines when approving purchases.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in business related field preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience working in an office environment using procedures involving word processing, databases, and spreadsheets
  • Proficiency with software applications such as Microsoft Word and Excel and Google applications required
  • Experience in Parkway’s current financial software is not mandatory but helpful
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to relate to diverse groups of people
  • Ability to work under pressure, multi-task on several projects at once, prioritize, and to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to effectively field a high volume of calls and inquiries throughout each day
  • Ability to move in and around district buildings and campus locations
  • Ability to sit and work on a computer throughout the workday; ability to type effectively
  • Other duties as assigned
