Salary Range: $75,000-90,000 . Compensation for this position is based on relevant education and experience and will be set within the listed salary range.

SCHEDULE: 11-month position. Must be available to work during summer months. Schedule may vary according to departmental and Academy needs.

Position Purpose

The Director of Accommodations and Learning Support oversees all academic, physical, and testing accommodations for students with documented learning differences, medical conditions, disabilities, or temporary impairments. The role ensures compliance with applicable laws, aligns practices with current standards in student support, and collaborates with faculty, families, and external professionals to create an inclusive and equitable learning environment.

Job Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for students and families seeking accommodations for academic and other aspects of school life.
  • Act as a visible on-campus resource and determine appropriate support pathways for students (e.g., learning specialist, learning centers, instructor support, tutoring, helps student and families to determine when neuropsychological testing may be appropriate).
  • Will review neuropsychological evaluations and collaborate with relevant administrators, including General Counsel, to determine reasonable accommodations.
  • Develop and maintain student accommodation plans, review plans with students, and support students, families, advisers, and faculty in implementation.
  • Oversee temporary academic modifications for students with a temporary or emerging barrier to assessments, or who are waiting to undergo neuropsychological testing.
  • Possess or develop a deep understanding of the Harkness pedagogy and determine which accommodations can be supported without fundamentally altering the Academy’s program.
  • Apply and coordinate standardized testing accommodations with ACT and the College Board.
  • Serve as a resource to faculty on supporting diverse learners and provide regular professional development opportunities.
  • Partner with campus leaders (e.g., deans, Medical Director, Director of Counseling and Psychological Services) to address accommodation needs.
  • Work with interested and applicant families to understand the scope of accommodations that may be offered by the Academy, and work with incoming and returning families, during summer months to prepare accommodation plans for the upcoming school year.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Competencies

  • Strong skill in interpreting neuropsychological evaluations and translating findings into effective accommodation plans.
  • Proven success collaborating with students, families, faculty, and multidisciplinary campus partners.
  • Respect for diversity of identities and experiences, an orientation toward equity and inclusion, and cultural competency in all aspects of Academy life.
  • In-depth understanding of learning disabilities, ADHD, anxiety, and other factors that may affect academic performance.
  • Excellent communication, judgment, and problem-solving skills, particularly when navigating sensitive or complex student needs.

Position Requirements

Education

  • Master’s degree in Special Education, School Psychology, Counseling, or a related field.

Experience

  • Demonstrated skill in interpreting neuropsychological evaluations and developing accommodation plans.
  • Knowledge of relevant laws and best practices related to school-based accommodations.
  • Background working in an institutional or campus setting preferred.
  • Familiarity with supporting adolescents in an educational environment.
