PRIMARY FUNCTION:

To coordinate and direct the development of English Language Learners

Program K – 12.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must hold an SRT5(T5) or higher in Education and an ELL Endorsement/Certification, L5 preferred.
  • Bilingual preferred, but not required
  • Minimum of five years of successful teaching experience.
  • Routine physical activities are required to fulfill job responsibilities.
  • Knowledge of processes necessary to identify needs for improvement and design and implement projects that ensure improvement.
  • Knowledge of group dynamics and group communication.
  • Administrative and leadership ability.
  • Ability to work independently and exercise professional judgment in decision-making.
  • Ability to work under pressure in meeting schedules and deadlines.
  • Excellent written and oral communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to establish vision and develop short-term and long-term plans for English Language Learners.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

  1. Facilitates and attends all necessary training for ESOL teachers at the local and state levels
  2. Attends trainings on Scientifically-Based Practices in all subject areas where it pertains to EL students
  3. Coordinates the implementation, training, and development of state and federal standards/guidelines as they pertain to EL students
  4. Creates a Professional Learning framework and implementation plan for ESOL teachers based on current research, trends in instructional improvement, and district needs
  5. Provides support and structure for codification, implementation, and sharing of best practices across schools
  6. Provides leadership, continuity, and compliance with federal and state law
  7. Ensures adherence to state guidelines for the entrance and exit of students requiring EL services
  8. Effectively and efficiently organizes resources, processes, and systems to support teaching, learning, and organizational effectiveness for ESOL teachers
  9. Communicates effectively the district’s purpose to align teaching practices to student learning
  10. Establishes mechanisms and structures for continuous feedback from all stakeholders
  11. Focuses on relationships among schools, customers, and stakeholders.
  12. Nurtures school, staff, and stakeholders as they navigate through change processes
  13. Prepares and submits appropriate budget requests
  14. Assists in the recruitment and selection of instructional personnel as needed
  15. Coordinate the integration of technology into the curriculum
  16. Facilitates the translation of written English materials into other languages as needed
  17. Facilitates the enrollment process for ESOL students
  18. Coordinates the process for students requesting international/exchange agency services
  19. Provides professional learning for ESOL teachers and school administrators on the continued implementation of the WIDA standards
  20. Provides professional learning for ESOL teachers on the administration of state-mandated assessments
  21. Develops and oversees the Title III Budget.
  22. Serves as a liaison for the EL community and works to improve parent and community relations
  23. Assist with keeping the EL Administrative Procedures Manual up to date
  24. Acts as a liaison between the state and the county as it relates to Title III
  25. Performs other duties as assigned
