Job Description
The Medical Assistant assist in the provision of patient care by performing assigned tasks according to policy and address the developmental and age related needs of the patient. He/she will assist in examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician. The Medical Assistant must assist in the assessment of patient responses to interventions by performing and recording routine vital signs then performing initial interview to obtain patient data. In addition, he/she must identify abnormal assessments of findings, communicating findings to physician, and document assessment findings in the appropriate format. The Medical Assistant must document all activities according to defined guidelines by completing all documentation requirements in a timely manner by including thorough and complete information and properly identifying self on all patient records. He/she will assist in the education process for the patient by providing information to assist in patient/family learning, and obtaining appropriate educational sheets for patient and place in chart.
Education:
Certified Medical Assistants who has graduated with one year of accredited schooling and have taken and passed the Medical Assistance Certification exam required.
Experience:
One year experience preferred in a healthcare setting.
Licenses/Certificates:
- Medical Assistant Certificates from accredited school required
- BLS required
