Job Description

The Assistant Nurse Manager supports the Unit(s) Manager. Goals include achievement of clinical and quality measures, operational efficiency, and financial targets as well as well as population/age specific needs of the  assigned department(s). The Assistant Manager assist the manager with supervision, directs nursing care,  and all related activities, in a designated area according to policies, procedures, mission and objectives of  MUSC Health Chester Medical Center. Is responsible for recommending, developing, and implementing  policies and procedures in conjunction with the Director of Nursing, and for informing the CNO of both progress and potential problems in the absence of the manager. Will provide professional nursing care, initiate contact with the physicians and patients to establish and address needs and expectations, and serve as a resource person for other staff members. The Assistant Manager will be required to work at least 40 hours per week with a minimum of 12 hours in a clinical shift.

Experience: Three years related work experience as a registered nurse required. Extensive knowledge of the unit's patient population, health care trends, community and regional resources and service availability to these populations. An ability to establish working relationships with diverse groups and individual, medical staff and other health care disciplines.

Additional Job Description

Education: Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) degree from an accredited college/university; Master of Nursing (MSN) or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) in lieu of BSN.

Licenses/Certificates: Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state required. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) required through the American Heart Association (AHA).
