College and Career Specialist – STEM Lead

REPORTS TO: Director of Career, Technical and Agricultural Education

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The primary function of the College and Career Specialist will be to work with the Director of Career, Technical and Agricultural Education to coordinate services with schools to meet the needs of students as it relates to planning for the future. The College and Career Specialist will assist in overseeing the design and implementation of programming, related to developing the skills and awareness required for post-secondary success. Additionally, the College and Career Specialist will provide support to schools, students and families with regard to college and career readiness.

POSITION: Full Time Employee – (Flexible hours including evening events)

CONTRACT DAYS: 200 days

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s Degree or higher

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Bachelor degree in Education or related field
  2. Have knowledge of post-secondary options
  3. Possess professional development experience
  4. Ability to relate well to students, parents, and co-workers
  5. Must have excellent written and interpersonal communication skills

GENERAL COLLEGE & CAREER SPECIALIST DUTIES AND PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Facilitate district and school-level workshops for students & parents related to College and Career Readiness
  2. Facilitate district and school-level workshops and training sessions for educators related to College & Career Readiness
  3. Cultivate and support community partnerships and initiatives related to College & Career Readiness
  4. Collaborate with internal partners to support district-wide advisement & post-secondary planning.
  5. Manage data collection and record-keeping to ensure that student and program outcomes are accurately reported
  6. Provide additional support, as needed, to promote and develop K-12 college and career initiatives
  7. Attend work every day, on time, and perform all duties as assigned effectively and efficiently
  8. Ensure appearance is neat and professional befitting the job they provide the school system
  9. Exhibit a professional attitude and demeanor at all times in dealing with the board, school administration, fellow employees, parents, students, and the public
  10. Other appropriate duties as assigned

STEM LEAD – SPECIFIC AREAS OF CONCENTRATION

  1. Provide Professional learning related to STEM, Robotics, & Preparing Future-Ready Students.
  2. Facilitate district competitive robotics tournaments and events.
  3. Support district efforts to expand Engineering & Technology CTAE programs and Technology Student Association (TSA) chapters into elementary schools.
  4. Support school and district-level efforts in the delivery of STEM-related topics and instruction.
  5. Support schools seeking to pursue STEM certification.
  6. Facilitate relationships between NCS STEM initiatives and STEM-related community partners.
  7. Support elementary and middle school efforts to incorporate workforce development into their school culture.
