The Radiology Supervisor at MUSC Midlands plays a critical role in ensuring the effective and efficient operation of the radiology department. This position requires a blend of leadership, clinical expertise, and administrative acumen. The Radiology Supervisor will oversee all aspects of radiology services, from staff management to patient care, equipment maintenance, and regulatory compliance. This role demands a proactive approach to problem-solving, a commitment to continuous improvement, and the ability to foster a collaborative and supportive team environment. The Radiology Supervisor is expected to uphold the highest standards of quality and safety, ensuring that all imaging services are delivered with precision and compassion.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leadership and Supervision

    • Supervise and lead a team of radiologic technologists and support staff.
    • Conduct regular team meetings to communicate departmental goals and updates.
    • Provide mentorship, coaching, and performance evaluations for staff.
  • Operational Management

    • Oversee daily operations of the radiology department, ensuring efficient workflow and patient throughput.
    • Develop and implement departmental policies and procedures.
    • Coordinate staff schedules to ensure adequate coverage and minimal downtime.
  • Quality Assurance and Compliance

    • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations as well as hospital policies.
    • Monitor and maintain quality control standards for all imaging procedures.
    • Oversee the maintenance and calibration of radiology equipment.
  • Patient Care

    • Ensure high standards of patient care and safety are maintained.
    • Address and resolve patient concerns and complaints promptly and professionally.
    • Foster a patient-centered environment and promote patient satisfaction.
  • Administrative Duties

    • Manage departmental budgets, including supply inventory and equipment purchases.
    • Prepare and submit reports on departmental performance and metrics.
    • Participate in departmental and hospital-wide committees as needed.
  • Training and Development

    • Coordinate ongoing education and training for radiology staff.
    • Ensure staff certifications and licensures are up-to-date.
    • Implement new technologies and procedures, providing necessary training to staff.

Qualifications

  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Radiologic Technology or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Licensure/Certification:
    • ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) certification required.
    • State licensure in radiologic technology.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in radiology, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Skills:
    • Strong leadership and team management skills.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
    • Proficiency in radiologic procedures and the use of imaging equipment.
    • Ability to manage budgets and departmental finances.
    • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and quality assurance standards.

Working Conditions

  • This position requires standing for extended periods and moving between different departments.
  • May involve lifting and positioning patients.
  • Exposure to radiation and infectious diseases with proper protective measures in place.
