Job Description Summary

The Metabolic & Bariatric Surgery Program RN Specialty Coordinator is a member of the Digestive Health ICCE and will report to the Metabolic & Bariatric Surgery Program Manager. The purpose of this position is to coordinate and facilitate entry of patients being evaluated for bariatric surgery into the MUSC system and develop an in-depth interdisciplinary plan of care. The position is responsible for coordination of clinical care for bariatric surgery patients to maximize billable provider time, increase conversion rate from interest to surgery, and reduce unnecessary hospital readmissions, reoperations, and interventions through increased patient education, and ongoing Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP) compliance with standards.

Job Description

Additional Job Description

A Bachelor's degree in Nursing and five years nursing experience; a Master's degree in Nursing, Business, Health administration or a relevant field preferred. Certified Bariatric Nurse (CBN) preferred. Current South Carolina licensure or licensure in a compact state as a registered nurse. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.

Additional Job Description

Bachelor's degree in Nursing from an accredited school of nursing and a minimum of three years related clinical nursing work experience required. Licensure a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or compact state required. Certification as a generalist in a related specialty area by the American Nurses Association (ANA) preferred. Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification is required
