POSITION OVERVIEW: The Executive Director of Teaching and Learning will play a pivotal role in advancing the educational mission of the district by providing leadership, guidance, and support to enhance teaching and learning experiences across the K-12 spectrum. This individual will directly supervise instructional content specialists and collaborate with district leadership, school administrators, teachers, and other stakeholders to ensure the implementation of effective instructional practices, curriculum development, and professional development initiatives.

JOB GOAL: Supports the Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning in the overall implementation of the K-12 instructional programs, by utilizing data management systems and school system measures to analyze and monitor academic progress, monitoring program and district curriculum initiatives, and aligning resources and teaching and learning support for identified school improvement objectives designed to increase student achievement.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree or higher and GAPSC Certification in Educational Leadership; Ed.S. is preferred.
  • A minimum of eight (8) years of progressively responsible teaching and learning experience with at least three (3) years of district office and/or related full-time administrative experience in educational leadership roles, in K-12 public school settings.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Instructional Leadership: Develops and implements a long-range plan for effective implementation of instructional programs designed to increase student achievement. Leads the development and implementation of comprehensive plans to enhance student achievement and instructional effectiveness.
  2. Curriculum Development: Oversees the design, evaluation, and alignment of curriculum, ensuring that it meets state standards, promotes equity, and addresses the diverse needs of students. Collaborates with instructional content specialists, content leads, and educators to identify and implement best practices.
  3. Instructional Support: Provides guidance and support to teachers and instructional staff to improve instructional delivery, classroom management, and student engagement. Facilitates the integration of technology and innovative teaching strategies into instructional practices.
  4. Professional Development: Develops and implements professional development programs and initiatives to support the continuous growth and learning of teachers and staff. Identifies areas for professional growth, delivers targeted training sessions, and promotes a culture of collaboration and reflection.
  5. Assessment and Data Analysis: Participates in the analysis and reporting of student assessment results to monitor progress, identify areas for improvement, and inform instructional decisions. Uses data-driven insights to develop implementation plans, interventions, and support strategies for struggling students, and drive continuous improvement of teaching and learning in the district.
  6. Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborates with Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning and other departments to ensure seamless delivery of instructional programs and services. Works with district leadership, school administrators, parents, and community partners to foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment. Communicates regularly with stakeholders to gather feedback, address concerns, and build consensus around teaching and learning initiatives.
  7. Provides direction and oversight in the alignment and implementation of the Georgia Performance Standards, through assessment and instructional strategies.
  8. Ensures that teaching and learning and instructional support is provided to school level staff and faculty, including the design of instruction based upon ongoing progress monitoring, to include differentiation, acceleration, remediation, and re-teaching.
  9. Provides professional development opportunities, teaching and learning support, and instructional resources necessary to implement a standards-based curriculum which promotes collaboration among district instructional specialists and school-based instructional staff.
  10. Ensures that professional learning initiatives and plans align with key goals of the district and school.
  11. Research current educational trends regarding instructional strategies, curriculum methodology, and educational administration policies and programs.
  12. Provides instructional support, and teaching and learning resources and structures to deliver quality professional learning and implement a standards-based curriculum.

Other Duties:

  1. Adheres to the Code of Ethics for Educators in Georgia as established by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission.
  2. Projects a positive image when dealing with the public, employees, parents, and students.
  3. Demonstrate regular and punctual attendance. Required to have prompt, regular attendance in-person and be available to work on-site, in-person during regular business hours and as needed.
  4. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
